In 1969, Seiko changed the world of horology forever with the introduction of the Quartz movement. Throughout the 70’s, Seiko quartz movements were at the forefront of state-of-the-art horology. The 9943 movement was released in 1978, boasting an impressive +/- 10s per year accuracy. The Grand Quartz was only second to the Superior Quartz in terms of accuracy in Seiko’s line-up.

In 1978, the price of a Grand Quartz was around $470 USD, which is equivalent to $2300 USD today. This model is still a sought after piece in collections, and the design has stood the test of time. The beautiful angular stepped indices give incredible dimension to the dial, and the slab case with integrated bracelet look outstanding.
