The diamonds (and everything else on the watch) are factory. Those distinguish this model as the rarer version of the reference (M41390) - those with naked lugs were limited to 1,000 pieces.

Actually prefer a trade on this one. Looking for a Grand Seiko with a cool / interesting dial. Might be willing to take a small value hit if the dial really blows me away.
