[WTS-US(MD)] Vintage Restorations Flexible Waterman, Swan, Wahl, Moore, Sailor
($160 - $555)
Lot Picture & Verification
A beautiful series of pens this week at discounted prices (feel free to send offers too) as I am buying bulk supplies to develop better restoration products that bring the life back to vintage pens. All my pens are restored using a proprietary process that restores the material integrity (strength + color) of ebonite and celluloid and prevents continued build up of hydrogen sulfide (ebonite) and acetic/nitric acid (celluloid), which means the colors won't fade for (probably) another 10-20 years if stored correctly. International shipping is a bit expensive right now, but happy to help facilitate for any overseas friends.
rage rant: I have newfound disdain for Noble Note's Life notebooks, this paper bleeds no matter the ink I use (waterman, pilot, parker, sailor, platinum, aurora, diamine). thank you.

3. Wahl Eversharp Ringtop, BHR "Dart", Gold Trim
💰 Asking: $215 OBO (or best offer)
🥇 Grade: B Mint Restoration, crispy imprints
🖼️ Gallery: Wahl Ringtop Black Dart Gold
🔱 Nib: [Butter Flex ~350g] Wahl #2 14k Signature
🖋️ Line Spec: XF to BBB (0.35mm, 1.80mm)
📐 Dimensions: 9.1cm capped, 8.3cm uncapped, 5.4cm cap
📒 Details: Crazy minty dart pattern that I absolutely adore. It was an innovation upon their existing diamond chasing pattern that added chased arrows instead of the simple rows of diamond embossings. A very juicy writer that is super smooth with very good snapback, surprisingly the ebonite feed keeps up with the nib even better than some of the larger signature pen variants from Wahl's later models. Originally thought it felt like a superflex but when tested on my Acaia, it was much lighter at only 350g to full tine spread to get the max line variation. A very nice daily writer to keep for journaling or traveling, the smaller ink capacity also means less likelihood of pressure building in the sac that can cause burping or leaking.

4. Moore Pen Co. Ringtop, Red HR 1-band, Gold Trim
💰 Asking: $175 OBO (or best offer)
🥇 Grade: C amazing restoration results, but some brassing on cap band I couldn't fix
🖼️ Gallery: Moore Ringtop RHR Gold
🔱 Nib: [Super Flex ~400g] Warranted #2 14k gold
🖋️ Line Spec: XXF to BBB (0.25mm, 1.70mm)
📐 Dimensions: 11.0cm capped, 9.9cm uncapped, 5.3cm cap
📒 Details: Super smooth springy nib with pretty good line variation and really nice superflex warranted nib. Moore was a pretty small maker in the shadow of the giants during the 1920s but still made some standout pens that were really reliable especially their lever fillers that were advertised as "unleakable" (classic FTC lawsuit). An exceptionally pretty burgundy/wine red, I was actually able to get it to a much brighter hue of red that was more reminiscence of a cardinal red, but that would mean raw ebonite exposed to air. Happy to provide that service for an extra $10, it will be a really nice matte raw ebonite but will degrade over time as the ebonite isn't sealed.

9. Parker Lucky Curve Petit Pastel Ring Top Mauve
💰 Asking: $145 OBO (or best offer)
🥇 Grade: B minty vintage, permanite (celluloid) has aged beautifully
🖼️ Gallery: Parker Lucky Curve Pastel
🔱 Nib: [Hard Flex ~600g+] Parker Lucky Curve 14k nib (not printed)
🖋️ Line Spec: F to BB (0.40mm, 1.30mm)
📐 Dimensions: 8.6cm capped, 7.8cm uncapped, 4.2cm cap
📒 Details: Beautiful ring top from parker with incredibly minty permanite (Parker's revolutionary celluloid material manufactured by DuPont), has some loss of color brightness due to oxidization but it is incredibly uniform even when you uncap it and see the grip section, and even then it's still a minor and subtle hue change. It's not a true flex nib, but it's got some really good line variation and snap back for this nib style going from F to BB. Really good writer and solid push-button filling mechanism means it's pretty resistant to leaking ink. (tip when filling it up, you gotta pump the button a few time in ink bottle to get every last bit filled).

1. Waterman 55, Red Woodgrain, Clipless Gold Trim
💰 Asking: Withdrawn prior to listing
🥇 Grade: B, Mint Restoration but faded imprint as found
🖼️ Gallery: Waterman 55 Woodgrain Clipless
🔱 Nib: [Semi Flex ~450g] Waterman #5 14k Stub/Cursive Italic
🖋️ Line Spec: MB to BBBB (0.60mm, 2.50mm)
📐 Dimensions: 14.0cm capped, 13.4cm uncapped, 6.7cm cap
📒 Details: Unbelievably mint restoration that exceeded my own expectations, the imprint was faded when it got to me but I was able to restore it quite well without stenciling or scarring the ebonite. This nib is a super rare and special factory vintage Waterman #5 gold nib, that is a bouncy wet writer that can really control the flow of ink perfectly. Usually stubs love to just spit ink at the paper but this glides so perfectly while maintaining even tighter lines than some fine point nibs. More of a cursive italic than a stub, but at this 0.6-1.0mm range, its a bit chunky for me to call it a crispy italic. Semiflex that is super springy to allow for amazingly thick flourishes. This feed has also been throughly cleaned and heat set to the nib, and is such a strong team player in keeping up with the ink flow no mater how much you're flexing. Truly something that brings a smile to your face, especially if you like modern bold or stub nibs, as it brings that level of thickness but with the option to flex for some sexy lettering.

2. Waterman 51V, Red Ripple, Silver Trim
💰 Asking: Withdrawn prior to listing
🥇 Grade: B Mint Restoration, crispy imprints
🖼️ Gallery: Waterman 51V Ripple Silver
🔱 Nib: [Butter Flex ~300g] Waterman #1 14k gold
🖋️ Line Spec: XXXF to BBB (0.10mm, 1.80mm)
📐 Dimensions: 10.8cm capped, 9.9cm uncapped, 5.4cm cap
📒 Details: One of the most technical writers, particularly for a Waterman nib, but it's also the case that 51's are so rare to find these days, especially with such an incredible cursive italic nib (0.1mm horizontal, 1.1mm vertical), that has such a soft flex. Incredibly responsive nib with strong snapback that makes for an incredible writing experience particularly on smaller paper formats such as journals and memopads. These hairline nibs are one of the best writing experiences especially for people new to calligraphy/spencerian as it really trains your eye to how the ink flows when sheening from thin to thick.

5. Sailor 1950's Parley Eyedropper, Red Urushi, 14k Gold Cap
💰 Asking: SOLD $295 OBO (or best offer)
🥇 Grade: C micro scratches on the gold filled cap, but perfect urushi condition
🖼️ Gallery: Sailor Parley Urushi
🔱 Nib: [Semi Flex ~550g] Osmiridium Parley 14k gold, Japan Export seal
🖋️ Line Spec: XXXF to BB (0.10mm, 1.40mm)
📐 Dimensions: 12.9cm capped, 11.7cm uncapped, 6.3cm cap
📒 Details: A personal daily writer for me for many weeks this year, beating out the Sailor PG EF and Platinum 3776 UEF, hard to put to words as it's an exceptional writing experience with the perfect size for note taking but has great tine length to see what you're writing even at super small font sizes. The urushi lacquer adds a lot to the warmth when holding it as well. Super balanced pen with a beautiful gold nib that is perfectly sized, and doesn't look super small compared to the barrel like some urushi pens haha. The cap is Sailor's rolled 14k plated metal cap that's a very robust design for everyday carrying. A super unique japanese eyedropper system with shut off valve that works better than Wahl's absurd system on their dorics with less moving parts haha

6. Deluxe (Wahl Eversharp Signature), BHR "Grecian", Gold Trim
💰 Asking: SOLD $155 OBO (or best offer)
🥇 Grade: D CHIPPED CAP, has a small chip in the cap but has no impact on performance as the cap band will prevent further damage, faded grecian key chasing but very clean trim
🖼️ Gallery: Deluxe #2 Signature BHR Gold
🔱 Nib: [Semi Flex ~450g] Wahl Signature 14k Gold
🖋️ Line Spec: XF to BBB (0.30mm, 1.90mm)
📐 Dimensions: 13.2cm capped, 12.3cm uncapped, 6.3cm cap
📒 Details: Very solid wet writer, smooth flowing feed that keeps up very well, the snapback is decent but will need more intention when making crisper finishes to your flourishes.

7. Mabie Todd Swan 3162, BHR 1-band, Gold Trim
💰 Asking: SOLD $155 OBO (or best offer)
🥇 Grade: C great restoration, but the brassing on the cap band couldn't be recovered so I'll discount it a bit more haha
🖼️ Gallery: MTB Swan 3162 BHR Gold
🔱 Nib: [Semi Flex ~480g] M&T Swan #2 14k Gold
🖋️ Line Spec: F to BBB (0.55mm, 2.20mm)
📐 Dimensions: 12.6cm capped, 11.3cm uncapped, 5.6cm cap
📒 Details: A beautiful everyday writer in the classic MTB cigar shape, good snapback on the nib with smooth ability to change up line variation with flex, but able to keep a consistent western M line if not adding pressure. A great beginner's pen to learn flourishing without accidental blobs.
=========================================
8. Wahl Eversharp Signature Pen Lazulitic Blue Paris
💰 Asking: SOLD $555 OBO (or best offer)
🥇 Grade: C Minty NOS but celluloid on barrel has discolored faster than cap
🖼️ Gallery: Wahl Lazulitic Paris
🔱 Nib: [Wet Noodle/Butter Flex ~250g] Wahl #2 Flexible 14k gold
🖋️ Line Spec: XXXF to BBBB (0.10mm, 2.90mm)
📐 Dimensions: 11.2cm capped, 10.1cm uncapped, 5.9cm cap
📒 Details: This Paris edition of the Signature pen by Wahl is a feast for the eyes, and your hands. There is slightly more celluloid oxidization of the pen barrel than the cap, but my oh my, the nib on this is unholy. Going from 0.1mm to 3.00mm easily and up to tested max of 3.14mm. This means it's wispppyyyyy, and makes incredible variation for spencerian script and flourishing super fine details then immediately to huge broad strokes. Another beautiful and incredibly minty "made in usa" imprint.

10. Wahl Pen #0 Ring Top Gold-Filled Colonial
💰 Asking: SOLD $185 OBO (or best offer)
🥇 Grade: C micro-scratches, little bit of brassing on cap and butt, great imprints
🖼️ Gallery: Wahl #0 Gold Ringtop
🔱 Nib: [Butter/Super Flex ~350g] Wahl #0 14k gold
🖋️ Line Spec: XF to BBB (0.25mm, 1.95mm)
📐 Dimensions: 8.6cm capped, 7.8cm uncapped, 4.2cm cap
📒 Details: Pocket rocket galore, at only 8.1cm (3.2in), it spreads to BBB (2.10mm) from hairline and makes for incredible spencerian script calligraphy on the go. Slips into a Roterfaden or hobonichi cover super easily and the engraved colonial decor adds a great amount of grip. A little bit of brassing but it's pretty immaculate for the age and overlay (since they get dinged up so badly). The snapback is good, not great because it's so small with incredibly long tines, so will not be good to continuously flexing with one long stroke, but smaller spreads will be perfectly accommodated. Ink capacity is great given it's size, but do expect to refill faster than your typical vintage pen.

Letting go of some restorations I've done over the past month and some of my personal daily writers that have been enjoyed and now should find new homes instead of collecting dust. Conditions and details available on their spec sheet in respective gallery. Happy to answer questions or provide additional pictures. Some nibs aren't fully polished out, happy to clean em up at no additional cost if you bring it up during the trade.
Line Variation and Flexibility Standard, it's super subjective so it's not accurate, but it's at least precise [Acaia Lunar Scale] and consistent to the pens I test. (would love feedback too!)
All pens have their ebonite feeds heat set, nibs tuned, ebonite polished/ celluloid cleaned, and all pens come with new ink sacs, freshly talc'd. Pens will come with either latex or silicone ink sacs, please reach out with questions if it matters for your ink type.
⚠️ A word of caution, celluloid pens are flammable so just be careful if you play with fire like one normally does.
📦 Storage tips: Keep things dark and dry, I've added silica gel beads with all these pens, the silica is not ideal but humidity will kill your pen in days not years. Airflow is essential for ebonite and celluloid, so air out your drawers and trays every month or so or more if you remember.
Really excited to share vintage pens with everyone and happy to replace ink sacs/bladders for flat $5 a pen, just cover two way shipping for the pen(s). This is my weekend hobby so apologies for any delays in communication during USA-EST work hours.
