[WTS/WTT] Vintage beauties from Oris, Omega, and Helbros, and an aventurine, jump-hour Sugess
--
Hello r/watchexchange! I have had some incoming additions to the collection recently, which means things need to go out to make room and leave me (more or less) financially solvent. Before I get into some details about each of the four watches for sale, some general notes.
Photos and additional information: Unfortunately I am in a new space and am still figuring out the lighting, and I'm also running around like a chicken with its head cut off today, so these photos aren't the best in the world. If you would like more, including internal shots (although I can also probably provide you with movement numbers), please feel free to ask. I would, obviously, like to sell these, so if a couple more photos or additional info about any piece or pieces can make you a buyer, I really am happy to provide.
Condition: Unless otherwise noted, all these watches are in very good aesthetic condition with no particularly obvious blemishes, particularly given the age of most of them, but they have certainly been worn over their lives, and thus will likely present with small nicks here and there. Please look at the pictures and ask if you want more. Mechanically, they all were keeping excellent time when I recently wore them on the wrist with no isues. Please note, though, that the vintage watches are, well, vintage, and I will always recommend routine servicing.
Straps: Please make sure you read each individual listing to see whether the pictured strap comes with the watch--I'm a hoarder of straps and bracelets, and thus often sell just watch heads.
Pricing and trades: You're always welcome to make (reasonable) offers below what I'm asking, and I'm amenable to discounts if you're buying more than one watch. I would only be potentially interested in trades or trade+cash for the following: a 36mm, evil panda, tricompax version of the Dan Henry 1964 chrono; a 36mm, blue-dial version of the San Martin SN0144; or the Cosmic Blue edition of the Lorier Astra. Otherwise, unless you have some particularly interesting vintage piece you're looking to offload, doubtful I'll bite, but you're welcome to try!
Payment and shipping: I will only take payment with PayPal F&F or Zelle. All listed prices include the cost of basic USPS ground shipping within the CONUS. I'm happy to ship internationally or with a different service, but the difference in cost will be at the buyer's expense.
1950s Oris pointer date: This watch and its manual-wound movement is the OG version of the Big Crown Pointer Date, and is from when the watch was still being produced as a true field watch. Classic look with the red-tipped pointer hand for the dates set around the outside in white text that perfectly offsets and complements the slightly glossy black dial and stainless steel hands and case. The caseback stamp and text are still extremely crisp, and while the dimensions of this are certainly a little on the smaller side, it's entirely appropriate and an excellent look for a true field watch. Does not come with pictured strap, takes 16mm ones. Given that this was serviced relatively recently and has all the original internal and cosmetic parts, I'm asking for $300.
Omega De Ville elliptical case: This thing is an absolute stunner, a true dress watch from a slightly newer vintage model of the De Ville manufactured in the 70s with this delightful elliptical case. Features a stainless steel case, silver dial with perfectly matched slim hands and hour markers, and crown with a black onyx cabochon. Absurdly thin, especially since the acrylic crystal is pretty much recessed all the way into the case, and in the more desireable larger size variant. The manual movement was serviced in the last couple years and winds smooth as butter. A few nicks around the bezel, but overall in quite stunning condition for its age. Comes with pictured 16mm strap, which is pretty much brand new. Asking $500.
Vintage Helbros day-date: I have always felt that Helbros was an overlooked company in the vintage watch world, and have cycled several through my collection over the years. This one has absolutely classic design language that--dare I say it--reminds me in many ways of King and Grand Seikos. The gold dauphine hands and applied Kit-Kat style hour markers are perfectly proportioned to match both one another and the very elegant case shape, and the dial is a very light champagne that has a wonderful sunburst effect in natural lighting. Automatic movement runs like a charm, having been serviced a few years ago, and the day and date function works as it should. Does not come with pictured 18mm strap. Asking $150.
Sugess aventurine jumphour: Features both aventurine and a jump hour complication, two of the more sought-after features on watches these days. Aventurine is always lovely, and difficult to capture the full beauty of in photos. In more or less brand new condition, with an automatic movement that functions perfectly and a stainless steel case that is surprisingly well finished with a combination of brushed and polished surfaces. This is more or less a catch and release for me. Still love the idea, but just isn't getting much wear, and as I said, I have other things that have just come in. Taking a loss to get it out the door, including the brand new 20mm strap you see on it which I specifically bought for this watch, and is a $25 value by itself (is short-length, FYI). Asking $125 (and you don't have to deal with import tariffs from China!).
